Hoka One One Bondi 5
$180; Men’s 283 g (10 oz.), Women’s 247 g (8.7 oz.); Drop ratio: 4 mm Although the Clifton is probably Hoka’s signature shoe, the brand was built on the the early success of the first versions of the Bondi. This fully cushioned shoe reintroduced many a broken runner to the benefits of floating on a cloud. So what does a brand like Hoka do with an already well evolved good soldier like the Bondi? Hoka overhauls the upper, using the highly successful Clayton last for a better fit. The mid- and outsole also get some minor retooling, upgrading the materials for more durability. The Bondi 5 delivers a more nuanced fit and increased lifespan, which should be good news for its many devoted fans.
