The last few years, Saxx have surged to the front of the increasingly competitive performance men’s underwear market. Saxx was started by Kelowna, B.C.’s Trent Kitsch after he got fed up with discomfort while being active. He designed a simple yet brilliant fix – a vented pouch for your package. The Kinetic Run short is the natural extension of that concept, taken to outerwear and specifically for runners. After hearing that athletes were cutting out the mesh liner from their running shorts, Saxx have stitched in a pair of their excellent Kinetic boxer-briefs into a stretch woven short. The result is an extremely comfortable garment that looks great and prevents chaffing. Last fall, running brand New Balance teamed up with preppy apparel retailer J.Crew for a women’s line of athletic apparel. We liked their simple, clean cuts and classic patterns. Now, the “NB x J.Crew” collaboration has expanded to include menswear.

The initial launch features mid-length shorts, printed T-shirts, a quarter-zip long sleeve and a pair of packable running jackets. J.Crew’s simple, earthy colour palette is prominently featured, so this line will appeal to those who have neon fatigue with their running gear. That said, there is one brightly coloured green-yellow jacket for night runners ($158).

NB x J.Crew COLLECTION $80–$158
