The Threadbourne Fortis 3 is Under Armour’s first foray into spiral knitting an upper. The construction is made up of over 60,000 stitches, and together they make for a very crafty, elegant design. The previous sibling to this shoe (at least in spirit) was the Speedform Fortis 2, which looked and felt a lot different. Gone are the issues with fit around the ankle from that previous generation, and in its place is a clever ankle collar to keep the knit upper stable around the foot.

The midsole is firm and fairly responsive, ideal for running 5 and 10ks. The overall fit and feel of the Threadbourne Fortis 3 is as the shoe looks: no fuss elegance, with a touch of aggression and a whole lot of well thought out design. Along with the Bandit, Under Armour have surged into contention as one of the strongest running brands on the market in just a few short years.
