BROOKS ADRENALINE GTS 17
Men’s 303 g (10.7 oz.); Women’s 252 g (8.9 oz.); Drop ratio: 12 mm; $160
For nearly 20 years now, the Adrenaline, along with Brooks’s Ghost Glycerin models, have created a trio of premium cushioning offerings. The Adrenaline gts 17 is one heck of a durable shoe. It can withstand more miles than perhaps any other shoe in this review, so cost per wear is extraordinary.
For fans of previous versions, worry not. This is not a big departure from version 16. Like the previous incarnation, the Adrenaline 17 provides a soft ride and sports an impressive amount of cushioning. The BioMoGo dna midsole foam takes on the shape of your foot, while the cleverly designed “roll bar” within the midsole maintains stability for runners who overpronate. The outsole is made from blown rubber that’s segmented in a caterpillar-like structure, making it tough but quite f lexible. The upper is also tough, if a touch bulky, but that’s always going to be the trade-off when making a more durable shoe.
