Women take 3-1 mar­gin in volleyball

SYD­NEY — The Cape Bre­ton Uni­ver­sity Capers women’s volleyball team downed the Dal­housie Tigers 3-1 in At­lantic Uni­ver­sity Sport play at CBU’s Sul­li­van Field House, Satur­day.

The set scores were 25-19, 2325, 25-20 and 25-21.

Lead­ing the Capers were Vanessa St. Ge­orges with 17 kills, Me­gan Brown with 11 kills and 12 digs, and Hi­lary Cum­mings with nine kills and 16 digs. Kris­ten Ryan recorded 19 digs.

For the Tigers, Syd­ney na­tive Mar­garet Mor­ri­son led with 11 kills, while Lauren Smith posted 21 digs.

“Ev­ery­body stepped up and ev­ery sin­gle player had a good per­for­mance,” Capers head coach Claude Lapré said of the CBU women. “It was prob­a­bly our best match of this term.”
