Custody for insurgents an Afghan problem

Cape Breton Post - - COMMENT -

I have to agree with Bruce Kennedy’s letter (Liberal-Designed Gun Registry Would Fix Afghanistan for Sure, Weekend Feedback, Jan. 23). The last thing Canada needs is a prison for Taliban, insurgents, or whoever is trying to kill Canadian troops and sometimes succeeding.

It is a civilian political decision made in Ottawa where prisoners go. Canada has Corrections Canada people on the ground there. I don’t want my tax dollars spent housing, clothing and funding terrorists. It is an Afghan problem to jail terrorists who think nothing of killing innocent women and children.

In the Canadian Forces, it’s drilled into you to be flexible; things can change in a minute. Our Canadian Forces people are fighting a war and doing humanitarian work at the same time.

God bless our troops and the people of Haiti. Earl Rae Dominion
