Not guilty plea en­tered in case in­volv­ing mug­ging

SYD­NEY — A man fac­ing charges in con­nec­tion with a mug­ging in Septem­ber has pleaded not guilty and will go to trial April 9.

Joseph Fred­er­ick Evong, 27, of Syd­ney, is charged with rob­bery, use of a stolen credit card, op­er­at­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle while im­paired and re­fus­ing a breathal­yser.

A 25-year-old man was mugged for his wal­let, money and cell­phone on Lor­way Av­enue, Syd­ney, in the early morn­ing hours of Sept. 19. Three men and a woman left the scene in ei­ther a grey or beige 2000-2002 Chevro­let Cav­a­lier with a dent in the left front fender.

The vic­tim suf­fered in­juries to his face which were not life-threat­en­ing.

Re­gional po­lice ar­rested three men and a woman in the Prime Brook area later the same day.
