TORONTO (CP) — Corner Gas alums Brent Butt, Nancy Robertson and Fred Ewanuick return to TV with two new sitcoms next month.

They include Butt and Robertson’s Hiccups, about a dysfunctional children’s author played by Robertson, with Butt (her reallife husband) serving as writer/creator in addition to appearing in the series.

Ewanuick returns with Dan for Mayor, about a hapless electoral candidate.

CTV says the shows will premiere back-to-back March 1.

Both feature strong ties to Corner Gas, which ended its cele- brated six-year run last year.

While Hiccups is the brainchild of Gas star Butt, Dan for Mayor was created by Gas writers Mark Farrell, Paul Mather and Kevin White.

CTV says its new one-hour cop drama The Bridge will debut March 5 with a two-hour premiere.

The series stars Aaron Douglas ( Battelstar Galactica) as a police union leader battling crime on the streets and corruption among fellow officers.

The Toronto-shot show is a CBS-CTV co-production but was absent from the CBS lineup when the U.S. network revealed its schedule last month.
