Scream­ing Ea­gles girls, North­ern Storm con­tinue play­offs to­day

SYD­NEY — The two Nova Sco­tia Fe­male Midget AAA Hockey League semi­fi­nal se­ries will re­sume to­day in Cape Bre­ton.

The se­ries be­tween the Cape Bre­ton Fer­gu­son’s Phar­maChoice Scream­ing Ea­gles and the Pro Crest­ing Pen­guins shifts to Syd­ney. Game 3 of the best-of-five af­fair goes this af­ter­noon at Cen­tre 200 beginning at 4:45 p.m. and Game 4 will be played Satur­day at 11:45 a.m., also at Cen­tre 200.

If needed, Game 5 is slated for Sun­day in East Hants at 11 a.m.

The teams split the first two games of the se­ries at the East Hants Arena last week­end. Car­rissa Carey net­ted the win­ner in over­time as the Scream­ing Ea­gles took Game 1 by a 3-2 score, but Me­gan Cameron played the role of hero for the Pen­guins a day later, lift­ing the Pen­guins to a 2-1 tri­umph in Game 2.

The sec­ond league semi­fi­nal se­ries also re­sumes tonight at 8 p.m. at the Dr. Bernie MacLean Recre­ation Cen­tre in In­ver­ness. The Sub­way North­ern Storm take their 2-0 se­ries lead to home ice in the hopes of elim­i­nat­ing the Metro Bos­ton Pizza.

The Storm posted wins of 4-3 and 4-1 over Metro last week­end in Hal­i­fax. Eilidh MacDon­ald of the Storm is lead­ing the play­off scor­ing with a goal and four as­sists in two games, while fel­low Storm play­ers Lisa MacLean and Mag­gie Beaton have scored two goals in two games.
