Health authority accepting nominations for two annual awards
SYDNEY — The Cape Breton District Health Authority is accepting nominations for two annual health awards.
The Donald Ferguson Community Health Leadership Award recognizes an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to the health of people in the community. Contributions would include working with community organizations to promote, protect and improve the health, safety and well being of the public. Nominees would also have played a significant role in improving access to health services, improv- ing awareness of health concerns, health promotion and education and healthy public policy.
Anyone employed by the district, members of the medical staff or district partners is not eligible for this award.
The Dr. M.A. Naqvi Outstanding Health Care Professional Award recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution to the delivery of health services within the district over the past year. Nominees should demonstrate exemplary service to the people they serve, as well as commitment to improving the overall health of their community. Health-care professionals working within the district are eligible to receive this award.
Nomination information is available on the district’s website, www.cbdha.nshealth.ca under district awards. The information is also available by calling the CEO’s office at 567-7802.
The deadline for nominations is April 2 at 4 p.m. The district will recognize the recipients on Canada Health Day, which is May 12.
These awards were first presented by the district’s board of directors in 2002.
