Vikings take Coal Bowl
First title for N.L. team
“ We wanted to get the ball down low and use our size advantage, but they did a pretty good job doubling our big men and we didn’t hit outside shots like we had been throughout the tournament,” said Raiders co-coach Ryan Keliher, a former member of the Cape Breton University Capers men’s basketball team.
“I’m definitely proud of the guys. They wanted to win and they weren’t going to give up. They showed a lot of character to fight back, but we just came up a little short.”
MacDonald netted 16 points as well for the Vikings, while Morgan MacDonald scored 12. The Raiders replied with 19 points from Jacob Simmons, 16 by Aaron Robbins and 12 from Kyle Gillis.
The Raiders got a scare near the end of the game. Point guard Sean Seviour went down hard while going to the hoop and injured his back. He was conscious when taken away by stretcher to the ambulance.
