SYDNEY — In Nova Scotia Female Midget ‘ AAA’ Hockey League semifinal action over the weekend, the Cape Breton Ferguson’s PharmaChoice Screaming Eagles won their series with the Pro Cresting Penguins and the Metro Boston Pizza forced a yet-to-bescheduled Game 5 with two victories over the Subway Northern Storm. In nets, Chantel Marshall made 28 saves in the win, while Sabrina Rancourt turned aside 20 shots in the defeat. Game 4 at Centre 200, Saturday, saw the Penguins nip the Eagles 3-2 in overtime.
Emily Riddle and Stephanie Gates potted singles for the Penguins, while their teammate Raelee Rath recorded the overtime winner.
Carrissa Carey and Janelle Foster found the back of the net for the home squad.
In goal, Rancourt recorded 11 saves in the victory, while Marshall deflected 27 shots in the loss. Game 4 of the second league semifinal series saw the Metro Boston Pizza blank the Subway Northern Storm 2-0 at the Keating Millennium Centre in Antigonish, Sunday, to tie the series 2-2.
Moira Frier potted both Metro goals.
Between the pipes, Stefannie Moak posted the shutout and Melinda Parsons shouldered the loss. Game 3 of the same series saw Lindsay James score twice in the Metro girls’ 2-1 victory over the Storm at the Dr. Bernie MacLean Recreation Centre in Inverness, Saturday.
Maggie Beaton netted the lone Northern marker.
