Teen faces sec­ond-de­gree mur­der charge

LOWER SACKVILLE (CP) — A 17year-old youth charged with sec­ond-de­gree mur­der is still be­ing held in a Hal­i­fax hospi­tal.

De­fence lawyer Stan MacDon­ald ap­peared in Hal­i­fax youth court Mon­day on be­half of the teen.

The judge granted MacDon­ald’s re­quest that the mat­ter be ad­journed un­til Fri­day. The teen will re­main in cus­tody at the IWK Health Cen­tre. Po­lice found the body of Joy­ann Wright, 49, in her home in Mid­dle Sackville on Fri­day af­ter­noon.

The teenager, whose iden­tity is pro­tected be­cause of his age, was ar­rested while walk­ing naked on a Lower Sackville street.
