Everyone busy planning for upcoming tourism season
This is a busy time for all tourism associations around the island, with the planning for the upcoming season. Mary Tulle, CEO of Destination Cape Breton Association, will lead the team from the Cape Breton tourism industry as it attends the Saltscapes Travel Expo in Halifax, with the intention of capturing the attention of Atlantic Canada’s visitors. Plans are underway to make our presence bigger and better than ever, highlighting the very best of what Cape Breton Island has to offer the visitor. An invitation has been sent out to all those in the tourism industry to join in partnering with Destination Cape Breton Association to make Cape Breton Island stand out as the number one destination to visit this season.
Twelve thousand people attended the Saltscapes Expo last year, checking out what the Atlantic Provinces tourism industry was offering, and they were not disappointed as the tourism operators from all four provinces were doing their utmost to draw their share of the tourism dollar. Destination Cape Breton Association gathered an excellent mix of our tourism operators from the crafts industry, to accommodation and resorts and the golf industry, to the culinary field, to our major parks and historic sites, highlighting their products for the visitor’s enjoyment. This year the industry intends to be there with even a larger presence in order to hold our place as a number one tourism destination. The date for this year’s Saltscapes Expo is April 30 to May 2. On Feb. 21, the Fortress of Louisbourg Association will bring the Fortress of Louisbourg to the forefront, as it attends the Brides 2010 bridal show in Halifax. Program manager Sandra MacDonald will join Parks Canada’s representatives Linda Kennedy and Lester Marchand, along with chef Sara of Sara’s Simply Delicious, as they extend an invitation to couples to come and share their most treasured moments of a lifetime at the Fortress of Louisbourg. Couples will be informed of the opportunity to experience the elegance and romance of 18th Century France, while family and friends will delight in the majestic setting as they follow the happy couple in the celebration of marriage, from the sharing of vows to the enjoyment of their wedding feast. The Fortress of Louisbourg makes the perfect wedding destination on the Cape Breton Heritage Coast.
