Charity group hoping to harvest help from the public
Harvest House is a registered charitable organization that reaches into communities to offer help to those in need and is intended to complement the work of churches within the community. Melvin Sangster is the co-ordinator.
In Glace Bay they provide a drop-in centre which is open 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., five days a week.
“ We are open during the day and offer free coffee and tea. Some people who are retired even come by for fellowship.”
There is clothing available free of charge for anyone in need.
MacNeil said they hold Bible study sessions during the week. Wednesday and Friday nights they hold fellowship times at 7 p.m. MacNeil provides entertainment, playing the guitar and singing. Special events are held throughout the year and are open to the public.
