Jets topped twice by East­ern Shore

MUSQUODOBOIT HAR­BOUR, N.S. — The New Water­ford Credit Union Jets were downed twice by the East­ern Shore Ju­nior Mariners in the open­ing games of their Nova Sco­tia Ju­nior ‘C’ Hockey League best-of-five first-round play­off se­ries at the East­ern Shore Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on the week­end. Dart­mouth bested Cape Bre­ton West 3-1 to win the Nova Sco­tia Ma­jor Midget Hockey League se­ries 3-1.

Scor­ing one apiece for the Sub­ways were Ryan Davis, on the power play, Cody Pev­eril and Tim Man­nette.

Net­ting the Is­lan­ders’ lone goal Satur­day night’s Game 3, also in Port Hood, saw Mark Tre­maine tally two to lead Dart­mouth to a 50 shutout of Cape Bre­ton West.

Adding sin­gles for the vis­i­tors were Aaron Hoyles, Davis and Man­nette.

In nets, Poirier made 26 saves for the shutout, while Fer­di­nand turned aside 27 shots in the de­feat.
