Well women’s clinic has new home at health centre
GLACE BAY — The well women’s clinic has been moved to the new Sterling Health Centre in the Sterling Mall.
Kelly MacIsaac, Your Way to Wellness co-ordinator for the Cape Breton District Health Authority, said the goal of the centre is to provide cancer screening and health education in a private and quiet setting. They strive to provide these services throughout the Cape Breton District Health Authority including rural areas, during weekdays and also provide evening appointments.

Services provided by the well women clinic include:
•Physiotherapist: To help with urinary incontinence issues.
•Dietitian: The dietitian reviews healthy eating, portion control and teaches the importance of living a health life.
•Cancer screening: A team of female physicians and specially trained registered nurses are ready to screen healthy women between the ages of 15-75 for cervical cancer.
•Breast examination: Learn how to properly do a self breast examine. Questions can be answered by trained professionals.
•Wellness counselling: Learn about all aspects of life.
•Menopause education: Learn about hot flashes, emotional stress and body changes.
• Sexually transmitted infection education: For anyone who feels they have an embarrassing question that concerns sexual health, this is a place questions can be answered with confidentiality.
