Tourism town hall meet­ing set for Tues­day af­ter­noon

VIC­TO­RIA COUNTY — Vic­to­ria County Recre­ation and Tourism Depart­ment will host a tourism town hall meet­ing, Tues­day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at MacKen­zie Hall, Gaelic Col­lege, St. Anns. Spe­cial guest is Mary Tulle, CEO, Des­ti­na­tion Cape Bre­ton As­so­ci­a­tion (DCBA).

“This is an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to meet Ms. Tulle, the new CEO of Des­ti­na­tion Cape Bre­ton As­so­ci­a­tion and talk about the 2010 tourism plans,” said Dave Dono­van, mu­nic­i­pal tourism chair­man for Vic­to­ria County.

Dono­van points to the im­por­tance of work­ing to­gether to at­tract vis­i­tors to Cape Bre­ton Is­land.

Tourism op­er­a­tors and tourism as­so­ci­a­tions in Vic­to­ria County will have the op­por­tu­nity to share with DCBA their plans for the up­com­ing 2010 tourism sea­son and look at ways of part­ner­ing with on­line and off­line mar­ket­ing, fes­ti­vals and events and much more.

Tom C. Wil­son, di­rec­tor of recre­ation and tourism, Mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Vic­to­ria County, said the main fo­cus of the guest speaker’s pre­sen­ta­tion will be the as­so­ci­a­tion’s plans for 2010 in­clud­ing the up­com­ing Saltscapes Expo which will be held April 30 to May 2 at Ex­hi­bi­tion Park in Hal­i­fax. Saltscapes East Coast Expo, now en­ter­ing its sixth year, is one of the prov­ince’s premier shows for tourism pro­mo­tion, at­tract­ing ap­prox­i­mately 20,000 vis­i­tors.
