Nova Scotia Snowboard Association preparing for its visit to Ski Ben Eoin this weekend.
SYDNEY — Ski Ben Eoin will be the site for provincial snowboarding, Saturday and Sunday.
The Nova Scotia Snowboard Association competition will include four events, including two provincial series events, the Ben Eoin Snowboardcross and Ollie Around/Burton Slope Style competition and the RBC Riders events in both snowboardcross and slope style.
The provincial series events are open to all riders over the age of 11 and feature men’s and women’s categories in four age groups. The RBC Riders program is open to riders with one to three years of experience, ages 814. The program is a skill development program that was designed to fill the gap in the availability of grassroots competitive snowboarding events. It has grown to be the national event series for young riders, combining the basics of snow- boarding with fun-filled competition.
All riders are required to have a Canada Snowboard membership for both the provincial series and RBC Riders events. Canada Snowboard memberships must be purchased online at www.canadasnowboard.ca before the event at a cost of $20.
The provincial series requires competitors to hold an NSSA competitors license, which can be purchased at the registration table for $20 between 8:30-9:30 a. m. the day of the event. Helmets are mandatory for all events.
