Eskasoni man arrested after stolen oil truck crashes
ESKASONI — RCMP arrested a 27year-old Eskasoni man after a stolen oil truck left the road Saturday morning.
Cape Breton Regional Police, who assisted RCMP in the investigation, say the accident happened as the vehicle exited Eskasoni. The driver was believed to have been headed in the direction of Castle Bay when he hit a utility pole on Castle Bay Road.
CBRP Sgt. Jim MacLean said members of the regional hazmat team and the provincial Department of Transportation were helped with the removal of the vehicle.
While no oil leak was reported, a second oil truck was used to transfer the oil before the vehicle could removed from a ditch.
MacLean said the vehicle was believed to have been stolen from a local garage. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
