Collection an asset to island

Cape Breton Post - - COMMENT - Alex Morrison Cornwallis Park, N.S.

Last Thursday evening, my wife and I were guests at the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce dinner held at Victoria Park. Before the dinner, there was a reception hosted by Cape Breton University to mark the donation of a multi-thousand volume peacekeeping and conflict resolution library to CBU by the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre.

As a Cape Bretoner, founding president of the peacekeeping centre and an alumnus of Xavier Junior College, I was very proud and pleased that this collection, reputed to be among the best in the world, has found a new home in Cape Breton. It will be of great use to current and future students and faculty and will serve as a drawing card world-wide to all who wish to learn more about peacekeeping in all its aspects.

CBU taking the time to make much about the collection available electronically will enhance its usefulness greatly.
