INVERNESS — The Nova Scotia 4H Council is offering a scholarship for one junior member (age nine to 12) per county to attend Camp Rankin this summer, in honour of the camp’s 38 years of operation.

The Nova Scotia 4-H Council will pay the total cost of registration for the camper.

Selection criteria and requirements are up to the individual counties.

Some ideas used across the province include a draw of all members who have done a demo or speech at the club level or at the county level, the member who has improved the most, or based on financial need.

In Inverness County, interested 4-H members between the ages of nine and 12 as of Jan. 1 are invited to submit an essay of approximately one-half page on why they wish to attend Camp Rankin.

The essay should be mailed to the 4-H office, Box 70, Mabou, BOE 1XO or faxed to 945-2858 no later than March 20. Members should include their full name, mailing address and club name, along with the essay.

One member from the county will be selected to attend Camp Rankin free in 2010 and a Camp Rankin package will be forwarded directly to them in late March.
