GLACE BAY — The Savoy Theatre and Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia are presenting the children’s classics, Goodnight Moon, and The Runaway Bunny, Saturday at 2 p.m.

The innovative double bill adaptation will bring the beloved bedtime stories of the books — written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd — to life on stage at the Glace Bay venue.

Now in its 37th season, Mermaid Theatre has earned international acclaim for its unique interpretations of stories for young audiences. These widely-travelled productions incorporate innovative puppetry, striking scenic effects, and evocative original music to provide children with an effortless introduction to the performing arts and the excitement of reading.

Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar night time rituals, while The Runaway Bunny tells the tale of a bunny leaving home. Both stories feature endearing rabbit characters, the soothing rhythms of bunny banter, and dream-like imagery, which are sure to bring a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several generations.

Tickets are $25 and are available at the Savoy Theatre box office, which can be reached by phone at 842-1577. People can also purchase tickets online at www.savoytheatre.com.
