tain what we have through what we raise.”

In spite of that the centre works to ensure everyone can afford their services.

“ We try to maintain our prices at a rate groups can afford. Especially when it comes to schools because we know they can’t afford a lot of money.”

There have been a variety of grants which have helped the centre through the years.

Of note is the 2002 donation from the National Hockey League Players Association through its goals and dreams program.

Both Bowne and Dipersio gave credit to the late John ( Junior) Hanna in helping to secure letters of recommendation from former NHL players in the area during the application process. These letters were considered very important to the centre receiving the grant.

The centre officials recently embarked on the most ambitious fundraising campaign in its history.

The chiller, which is pivotol to ice making, needs to be replaced.

Funding applications are in the hands of various government agencies and letters have been sent out to corporations and businesses.

They will also be approaching groups and individuals who use the facility.

It is also hoped that the current campaign will allow the centre to upgrade the washroom facilities.
