Aban­doned farm­house de­stroyed in blaze

AL­BERT BRIDGE — An early morn­ing fire burned down an aban­doned farm­house in Mira Gut on Wed­nes­day. Eight fire de­part­ments re­sponded to the scene at the empty build­ing at about 1 a.m. and fought the blaze for three hours, ac­cord­ing to Craig MacNeil, pla­toon chief of the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Fire Ser­vice. No one at the scene was in­jured. The build­ing was com­pletely de­stroyed. There’s no word yet if the fire is sus­pi­cious in na­ture.
