Plea date set for man ac­cused of rob­bery

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney Mines man ac­cused of an armed rob­bery in Alder Point was de­nied bail Mon­day, and will re­turn to court July 13 for elec­tion and plea. Kevin Thomas For­rest, 20, is charged with armed rob­bery in con­nec­tion with a June 4 in­ci­dent in which a man claims he was robbed at knife­point of cash, jew­elry and an iPhone. Latef Reak­won Tag-EI-Din, 19, of the Hal­i­fax Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­ity, and a 16-year-old girl from Hal­i­fax, are also fac­ing charges in the case. The vis­tim al­leges he was trav­el­ling in a ve­hi­cle with the three ac­cused when he was robbed. He told po­lice he knew only one of the peo­ple in­volved. No in­juries were re­ported.
