Born April 8, 1925 in Cheticamp, died July 2, 2015, at age 90, at the Foyer Père Fiset in Cheticamp.

He had been a res­i­dent of New Water­ford for about 71 years prior to en­ter­ing the nurs­ing home.

He was the youngest of 11 chil­dren of Lu­bin and Elise (Au­coin) Desveaux and the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of his im­me­di­ate fam­ily.

Joe left Cheticamp at age 16 to proudly work in the coal mines for 43 years.

He is sur­vived by daugh­ters, Eileen of Bon­nyville, Alta.; twin, Paulette (Carl) Len­nox and Jeanette (Gor­don) Snow of Bathurst, N.B., Gina (Bar­rie) Ro­den­hiser and son, Luby (Deb­bie) of Dart­mouth, N.S.; son-in-law, Jim Ditch­field of Cold Lake, Alta., 11 grand­chil­dren and 13 great­grand­chil­dren.

He was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Mary Agnes (Odo) of New Water­ford, and a twin daugh­ter, Pauline Ditch­field of Cold Lake, Alta. He was also pre­de­ceased by two sib­lings in in­fancy, sis­ters Katie Desveaux, Mary Ivy, An­toinette Bour­geois and Olive Chiasson and broth­ers, Mose, Paddy, Amedee and Ed­die. He also leaves be­hind friends, An­gela King, Ann Bur­lock and Chickey Desveaux of New Water­ford and Va­lerie MacKin­non of New Vic­to­ria.

As per his re­quest, cre­ma­tion has taken place and there will be no vis­i­ta­tion. A fu­neral ser­vice will be held on Sun­day, July 5th at 2 p.m. in the McLel­lan Broth­ers Chapel with Fr. Ray Hunt­ley of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Mount Carmel ceme­tery and a re­cep­tion will be held in the fu­neral home. All are welcome.
