Ontario man has trial on sex-related charges rescheduled
SYDNEY — An Ontario man charged with sex offences has had his trial rescheduled for next year. Shaun Derrick LeBlanc, 40, of Welland, Ont., is charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation, anal intercourse (no consent) and sexual assault. His trial will now be held Feb. 22-24 in Sydney. The sex offences allegedly occurred between January 2006 and December 2007 in North Sydney and involve a male complainant. LeBlanc was originally scheduled to stand trial on the charges last Tuesday. He was previously released from custody, and ordered to have no contact with the complainant, he is not to associate with anyone under the age of 16 and he is to stay away from places where children under 16 are likely to gather, parks, community pools. A pre-trial conference is scheduled in the case for Sept. 2.
