Ontario man facing aggravated sexual assault charge in Ingonish Beach incident
SYDNEY — A Cambridge, Ont., man facing sex-related offences was released Thursday on $5,000 cash bail in Sydney provincial court. Quincy Gough, 20, is facing four charges relating to an incident on June 27 in Ingonish Beach. He was arrested by the RCMP and taken into custody. He is facing one count each of break and enter, sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated sexual assault, and overcoming resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate, or strangle another person in the commission of an offence. Among his conditions for release, Gough must stay in the province of Ontario, obey a curfew of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., and he’s not allowed on Cape Breton Island except in the company of his lawyer for scheduled court hearings. When on the island he must be driven directly to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Gough’s next appearance in Sydney provincial court is on Aug. 26 for plea to the charges.
