On­tario man fac­ing ag­gra­vated sex­ual as­sault charge in In­go­nish Beach in­ci­dent

SYD­NEY — A Cam­bridge, Ont., man fac­ing sex-re­lated of­fences was re­leased Thurs­day on $5,000 cash bail in Syd­ney pro­vin­cial court. Quincy Gough, 20, is fac­ing four charges re­lat­ing to an in­ci­dent on June 27 in In­go­nish Beach. He was ar­rested by the RCMP and taken into cus­tody. He is fac­ing one count each of break and en­ter, sex­ual as­sault with a weapon, ag­gra­vated sex­ual as­sault, and over­com­ing re­sis­tance by at­tempt­ing to choke, suf­fo­cate, or stran­gle another per­son in the com­mis­sion of an of­fence. Among his con­di­tions for re­lease, Gough must stay in the province of On­tario, obey a cur­few of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., and he’s not al­lowed on Cape Bre­ton Is­land ex­cept in the com­pany of his lawyer for sched­uled court hear­ings. When on the is­land he must be driven di­rectly to the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­ity. Gough’s next ap­pear­ance in Syd­ney pro­vin­cial court is on Aug. 26 for plea to the charges.
