Bas­ket­ball opens with win

Capers bench boss Fabian McKen­zie coached Team Canada’s women’s bas­ket­ball team to a 70-65 dou­ble overtime win over Hungary to open play at the 2015 Sum­mer Univer­si­ade in Gwangju, South Korea on Sun­day. Canada will move on to play South Korea to­day. The men’s soc­cer team, which in­cludes Capers play­ers Ian Greedy and Justin Ma­heu, lost 1-0 to Chi­nese Taipei on Sun­day. Canada (0-2) is now out of medal con­tention. Canada’s women’s soc­cer team (2-0) posted a 2-0 vic­tory over South Africa on Satur­day. They’ll play the United States to­day. Capers star Karolyne Blain is a mem­ber of the Cana­dian squad. The Swiss men’s bas­ket­ball squad (0-2) that in­cludes Capers player Chris­tian Af­folter lost 68-61 to Tur­key on Sun­day. They’ll chal­lenge Brazil on Tues­day.
