Basketball opens with win
Capers bench boss Fabian McKenzie coached Team Canada’s women’s basketball team to a 70-65 double overtime win over Hungary to open play at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea on Sunday. Canada will move on to play South Korea today. The men’s soccer team, which includes Capers players Ian Greedy and Justin Maheu, lost 1-0 to Chinese Taipei on Sunday. Canada (0-2) is now out of medal contention. Canada’s women’s soccer team (2-0) posted a 2-0 victory over South Africa on Saturday. They’ll play the United States today. Capers star Karolyne Blain is a member of the Canadian squad. The Swiss men’s basketball squad (0-2) that includes Capers player Christian Affolter lost 68-61 to Turkey on Sunday. They’ll challenge Brazil on Tuesday.
