CBU to host cli­mate change and clean tech dis­cus­sion

Car­bon pric­ing, cli­mate change and clean tech will be the fo­cus of a pre­sen­ta­tion called Mod­ern Pros­per­ity, tak­ing at Cape Bre­ton Univer­sity to­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the univer­sity, the pre­sen­ta­tion is de­signed to fa­cil­i­tate learn­ing about car­bon pric­ing from the per­spec­tive of sev­eral ju­ris­dic­tions and dis­cus­sion how cli­mate change ac­tion, in­no­va­tion and pros­per­ity can flour­ish to­gether in Nova Sco­tia.

“Clean tech so­lu­tions are at the core of what we do at the Ver­schuren Cen­tre, mak­ing dis­cus­sions like this very much a pri­or­ity for us,” said An­drew Swan­son, CEO of the Ver­schuren Cen­tre, in a press re­lease. “Given its time­li­ness, I think this pre­sen­ta­tion will be of in­ter­est to many.”

The pre­sen­ta­tion is or­ga­nized in part­ner­ship with the Ecol­ogy Ac­tion Cen­tre and will see Cather­ine Abreu and energy co­or­di­na­tor with Ecol­ogy Ac­tion Cen­tre, Jere­mey Moor­house, se­nior an­a­lyst for Clean Energy Canada, and Mark Pur­don, a cli­mate change pol­icy ex­pert, present on top­ics that have re­cently made their way into fed­eral po­lit­i­cal di­a­logue.

Af­ter the pre­sen­ta­tions a panel dis­cus­sion will be mod­er­ated by CBU pres­i­dent David Wheeler.

The event be­gins at 9 a.m. at the Ver­schuren Cen­tre.
