Club prepares for ‘Food Ride and Motorcycle Show N Shine’
A local club is planning once again to ‘rev up’ support for the Glace Bay Food Bank.
Sam Karam, vice president of the Bay Boys Cape Breton motorcycle club, said their second annual ‘Food Ride and Motorcycle Show N Shine,’ will be held Sunday, July 19, at Convergys parking lot ( formerly Stream), Union Street, Glace Bay, 10 a.m.2 p.m.
The event is being held under the umbrella of Bay Days festivities.
Bikers register at 10 a.m. with admission $10 in a food or monetary donation.
For the public, admission is any food or monetary donation. Karam said members of the local antique car clubs have been invited to join them, so a car show will be going on at the same time.
“They are coming to help support the cause of raising food for the food bank.”
There will be a 50/50 draw, a dunk tank, barbecue and prizes.
At 1 p.m., the bikers will be going for a ‘ bike ride’ throughout Glace Bay, ending at the Main Event, where prizes and plaques will be given out in several categories, donated by the Main Event in conjunction with Mel’s This and That Trophies and Gifts.
Karam said there was a good turnout last year. He said the club is appreciative to Convergys for allowing them to use their parking lot for this good cause.
“Convergys is a huge supporter, last year they brought a truckload of food.”
Karam said the Bay Boys appreciate all the help and support their club has received with this worthy cause.
“Everyone that participated - even a hair percent for the cause - it’s appreciated. This is not about motorcycles or cars or clubs or anything like that. This is about the food bank - it’s a fundraiser for the food bank.”
