The fam­ily are sad­dened to an­nounce the sud­den pass­ing of Pa­trick Bur­ton at home on July 7, 2015.

Born in Glace Bay, on July 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary Ann (Burns) Bur­ton.

He is sur­vived by the mother of his chil­dren, Joan Bur­ton; his chil­dren Deb­bie (Omar) Roach, Patti (Ken) Bedecki & Richard (Teresa); grand­chil­dren Sarah, Bria, Jen­nifer, Kyle, Adam, Kent and Leah; great- grand­daugh­ter Sophia; sis­ters Leone (Ge­orge) Briand, Wind­sor, Ont., Irene Moore, Claire (Har­vey) McPhee, both of Glace Bay; also by his friend Shirley Furey; many nieces and neph­ews.

Be­sides his par­ents he was pre­de­ceased by an in­fant son Joseph; sis­ters Rose, Carolanne and brother Richard.

Pat re­tired from Devco af­ter work­ing over 30 years as a miner. He was an avid horse­man, and an ac­tive mem­ber of the Re­serve Mines Pen­sion­ers Club, Glace Bay Pen­sion­ers Club and the Hub Club. He loved life and lived it to the fullest in his own way.

As per his re­quest, cre­ma­tion has taken place. A vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Fri­day, June 10, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Glace Bay Fu­neral Home, 775 Main Street. A cel­e­bra­tion of his life will take place at Knox United Church on Satur­day, July 11, at 11 a.m. with Kirk Neville of­fi­ci­at­ing. A re­cep­tion will fol­low. The in­ter­ment will be in For­est Haven Me­mo­rial Gar­dens.
