It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the sud­den pass­ing of Char­lie Hur­ley, on Mon­day, July 6, 2015, at his home, with fam­ily at his side.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Bartholomew ‘Bert’ Hur­ley and El­iz­a­beth ‘Betty’ (Fisher).

Char­lie was a mas­ter­mind in me­chan­ics and car­pen­try and his true pas­sion was spend­ing time in his garage and with his son, Hay­don. He loved work­ing around cars and en­joyed wood­work­ing.

He worked for Kennedy’s Paving, Wood­land Con­struc­tion, and Mur­phy’s Alu­minum; he worked hard and took great pride in ev­ery­thing he did and owned. Char­lie en­joyed the great out­doors, es­pe­cially go­ing four­wheel­ing with his son, Hay­don, he had a love for an­i­mals es­pe­cially his cats, Jode and Nubb.

Sur­viv­ing are his part­ner and best friend, Tanya Ni­cole Hill; son, Hay­don Michael Charles Hur­ley; sis­ters, El­iz­a­beth Bearnes, Cal­gary, Wendy Samp­son, Glace Bay; broth­ers, John (Patty), Glace Bay, Keith, Mor­ris (Con­nie), both of Al­berta, also sur­viv­ing are nieces, neph­ews and friends

Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the care and di­rec­tion of V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 16 Re­serve St., Glace Bay. A fu­neral ser­vice will be held on Satur­day, July 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Angli­can Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Ver­non Reid of­fi­ci­at­ing, with a re­cep­tion to fol­low.

In­ter­ment will be in St. Mary’s Angli­can Ceme­tery, Glace Bay.

Me­mo­rial do­na­tions in Char­lie’s mem­ory may be made to a char­ity of one’s choice.
