It’s possible, as “The Colonization Application” makes Amy (Mayim Bialik) unhappy to learn he’s applied for that role without consulting her. Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) is unsettled by her belated Valentine’s Day gift from Leonard (Johnny Galecki). Raj (Kunal Nayyar) takes advantage of Emily’s (guest star Laura Spencer) absence from her apartment to do a bit of illadvised investigating. 2 The Nature of Things 9 p.m. on (CBC)
An episode called “Mystery of the Monsoon” presents a strikingly cinematic look at a category of storm that some cultures in India view as the soul of that country. The documentary examines monsoons from the perspectives of fishermen, farmers and wildlife wardens, all of whose lives are directly affected by the heavy rains, as well as the viewpoint of meteorologists, who try to predict the location, timing and volume of the downpours.
3 Doc Zone 10 p.m. on (CBC) “Roboticize Me” explores the robot revolution that is going on throughout modern society, specifically what is driving the desire to create more lifelike, intelligent and “emotional” machines that go far beyond mechanized devices to take care of drudgery. Instead, technicians are exploring how to create robots that can serve as viable companions to humans.
4 Wayward Pines 10 p.m. on (FOX) Who blew up Main Street? That’s the mystery for Ethan (Matt Dillon) as he tries to determine who’s responsible for the explosion that seriously injured two Wayward Pines residents in the ironically titled new episode “The Friendliest Place on Earth.” Harold (Reed Diamond) decides not to follow through with plans he had with Kate (Carla Gugino). Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo) conducts a probe to find out if any of the locals’ activities have been concealed.
5 Aquarius 10 p.m. on (NBC) Two very different acquaintances of Hodiak (David Duchovny), a priest and a prostitute, may be able to lend him different kinds of assistance with his case in the new episode “Sick City.” With his career on the upswing, Ken (Brian F. O’Byrne) reassesses everyone and everything in his life. Grey Damon, Gethin Anthony (as Charles Manson), Emma Dumont and Claire Holt also star. Guest stars include Chance Kelly and Jason Ralph.
