Pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing set on sex of­fences

SYD­NEY —A 32-year- old Syd­ney man elected trial by Supreme Court judge and jury Wed­nes­day on two sex of­fences. Ni­cholas Christo­pher MacLel­lan of Brid­get Street is charged with sex­ual as­sault and sex­ual in­ter­fer­ence. Both of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred be­tween Jan­uary 2010 and April of this year and in­volve a male vic­tim un­der the age of 16. MacLel­lan is now sched­uled to re­turn to pro­vin­cial court May 5 for a pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing dur­ing which a judge will de­cide whether there is suf­fi­cient ev­i­dence to war­rant send­ing the case to trial. MacLel­lan con­tin­ues his re­lease on con­di­tions.
