AN­TLE, Wil­liam ‘Billy’

It is with bro­ken hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, brother, un­cle and friend, Billy An­tle, 81, on Wed­nes­day July 8, 2015 at home in Cox­heath, sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily.

Born Jan. 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Wil­liam and Mary (Burke) An­tle.

He was a long­time ac­tive mem­ber of Cape Bre­ton Ground Search and Res­cue, which was formed one month af­ter he was lost in the woods in Wreck Cove, in 1969. Billy was also in­volved in Pro­ject Life Saver and vol­un­teered his time with the Syd­ney pen­sion­ers, and Aliant Pioneers. He en­joyed base­ball, curl­ing, hockey, darts, bowl­ing and shuf­fle­board.

He loved to spend his sum­mers at his cot­tage in Big Pond.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 59 years Patsy (MacLeod) ; his chil­dren Beryl (Wayne) Brewer, Brenda Evong (Frank) Robert (Nancy), Nancy (Sam) MacIn­nis, Ron­nie ( Jo­lene) and Lisa Vigneau. 17 grand­chil­dren and 8 great­grand­chil­dren, brother Harold (Irene), sis­ters Doddy ( John) MacLeod, Anne Burke, and sis­ter-in-law Rena.

Be­sides his par­ents he is pre­de­ceased by his brother Bernie and brother in law, Leo Burke.

Spe­cial thanks to our great neigh­bors for all their help: Derrick, Ed, and Larry. The staff in Re­nal Dial­y­sis and his fam­ily doc­tor Murdock Smith.

In lieu of flow­ers do­na­tions can be made to Cape Bre­ton Ground Search and Res­cue or Re­nal Dial­y­sis.

Cre­ma­tion has taken place. Vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Sun­day July 12, 2015 from 2-4 and 79 p.m. In the SW Chant & Son Fu­neral Home, 564 Alexan­dra St. Syd­ney. Fu­neral mass will be held on Mon­day July 13, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fa­tima Parish, with Fr. Duaine Dev­ereaux of­fi­ci­at­ing. Pri­vate fam­ily burial to take place at a later date.
