WestJet’s daily ser­vice to Hal­i­fax starts Wed­nes­day

SYD­NEY — The Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­ity will welcome ex­panded WestJet ser­vice to Syd­ney with a re­cep­tion at the Joan Har­riss Cruise Pav­il­ion on Wed­nes­day. CBRM Mayor Ce­cil Clarke will host the stake­hold­ers’ re­cep­tion from 4:45-6:30 p.m. On hand will be WestJet Encore pres­i­dent Fe­rio Pugliese. WestJet's new re­gional daily ser­vice will be­gin be­tween Syd­ney and Hal­i­fax on Wed­nes­day. Called WestJet Encore, the dis­count car­rier will use its 78-seater Bom­bardier Q400 air­craft. The an­nounce­ment of new routes to its sum­mer sched­ule was made in Jan­uary. Deer Lake and Gan­der, N.L., and Glas­gow, Scot­land, were also added to the list of des­ti­na­tions avail­able from WestJet through Hal­i­fax Stanfield In­ter­na­tional Air­port. WestJet also op­er­ates a sea­sonal Syd­ney-Toronto ser­vice that runs from May 14 to Oct. 24.
