WestJet’s daily service to Halifax starts Wednesday
SYDNEY — The Cape Breton Regional Municipality will welcome expanded WestJet service to Sydney with a reception at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion on Wednesday. CBRM Mayor Cecil Clarke will host the stakeholders’ reception from 4:45-6:30 p.m. On hand will be WestJet Encore president Ferio Pugliese. WestJet's new regional daily service will begin between Sydney and Halifax on Wednesday. Called WestJet Encore, the discount carrier will use its 78-seater Bombardier Q400 aircraft. The announcement of new routes to its summer schedule was made in January. Deer Lake and Gander, N.L., and Glasgow, Scotland, were also added to the list of destinations available from WestJet through Halifax Stanfield International Airport. WestJet also operates a seasonal Sydney-Toronto service that runs from May 14 to Oct. 24.
