Cape Breton University: Whatever Happened To ...
CBU Alumnus: Andrew Morrow Job Title: Company co-founder Employer: Breton Brewing Company CBU Education: BSc ’06 Current Location: Sydney, N.S. Hometown: Sydney, N.S.
When entering the bachelor of science program at Cape Breton University, Andrew Morrow didn’t exactly plan on having a career in the brewing business, but he says that CBU and the science program have certainly given him a great foundation for doing just that.
“The degree I received from CBU applies extremely well to the brewing industry,” said Morrow. “Whether altering water chemistry for the mash, adjusting temperatures for specific enzymatic activities, or harvesting yeast for future use, my education is always coming into play.”
He also adds that the ability to work hands-on with many progressive techniques while studying at CBU has helped him see the world of science in a whole new light.
Morrow and his business partner, Bryan MacDonald, opened their new company Breton Brewing Co. with a soft launch two weeks ago and are very happy with the feedback they have received so far.
Morrow credits CBU for allowing him to receive a first-class education while remaining close to family and friends, and now, allowing him to have the experience and confidence to become an entrepreneur in his hometown. SUBMITTED
