We, the fam­ily of the late John Pen­ney, are sad­dened to an­nounce his sud­den pass­ing in St. Catharines, Ont. on July 6, 2015.

John was born in Syd­ney, son of the late Am­brose and Mary Pen­ney.

He is sur­vived by his daugh­ter, Pam (Randy) Mul­der of Vineland and four grand­chil­dren, Darryl, Noah, He­lena and Matthew. He is also sur­vived by his sis­ter, Shirley Kyte (Ge­orge) of Syd­ney; sis­ter-in-law, Iona Smith of Ni­a­gara Falls; sis­ter-in­law, Irene Pen­ney of Hal­i­fax and sis­ter-in-law, Nel­lie Pen­ney of Syd­ney, as well as sev­eral nieces and neph­ews from Bri­tish Columbia to Nova Sco­tia.

Be­sides his par­ents, John was pre­de­ceased by a son, Richard (1981) and his wife, Betty (2010); as well as broth­ers, Ray of Hal­i­fax and Clifton of Syd­ney and brother-in-law, Doug Smith of Ni­a­gara Falls.

John re­tired from the Board of Ed­u­ca­tion where he worked as a cus­to­dian. He en­joyed his work at Car­leton Public School and Mer­ri­ton High School. He also very much en­joyed his reg­u­lar vis­its to Tim Hor­tons for cof­fee and con­ver­sa­tion.

Cre­ma­tion has taken place and as John has re­quested no vis­i­ta­tion or fu­neral, a pri­vate fam­ily ser­vice will be con­ducted.
