Town House hold­ing events through­out sum­mer

The Glace Bay Cit­i­zens Ser­vice League Nurs­ery School Re­union is hold­ing a re­union, “Cel­e­brat­ing Child­hood Across the Gen­er­a­tions.”

If you at­tended nurs­ery school be­tween 1965 and 2015, or were a nurs­ery school vol­un­teer or nurs­ery school teacher dur­ing the past 50 years, call Town House and RSVP your at­ten­dance.

The event is be­ing held to rec­og­nize the large and grow­ing nurs­ery school fam­ily. It will be held at 150 Com­mer­cial St. on Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 12, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Rain date is Fri­day, Au­gust 14.

There will be en­ter­tain­ment, a magic show and bal­loon an­i­mals and re­fresh­ments on the front lawn. Yard games such as red rover, kick the can, tug of war, sack races and other favourites from across the gen­er­a­tions will be played.

Also at Town House, a race for youth will be held. Up to 12 teams of two to four peo­ple be­tween the ages of 12 and 18 will be needed to par­tic­i­pate. Teams will com­pete by fol­low­ing clues and com­plet­ing chal­lenges at lo­ca­tions in down­town Glace Bay. There will also be a chance to win prizes. Those who wish to take part, must pre­reg­is­ter. Register your team by Au­gust 4.

The in­door yard sales con­tinue ev­ery Thurs­day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There’s no ad­mis­sion.

A de­fen­sive driv­ing course will be held Thurs­day, July 30, 6 p.m. The course costs $85. This course meets the re­quire­ments of Nova Sco­tia’s exit from the grad­u­ated li­cens­ing pro­gram. The Reg­istry of Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles may deduct up to four points from the record of a driver who has suc­cess­fully com­pleted a de­fen­sive driv­ing course within the pre­ced­ing year.

A safe boating course will be held Tues­day, July 28, 6-10 p.m. Course fee is $65. All op­er­a­tors of boats in­clud­ing per­sonal wa­ter craft must be in pos­ses­sion of a plea­sure craft op­er­a­tor card. Ad­di­tional classes will be held through­out the com­ing months. Call for ad­di­tional class dates.

Through­out the sum­mer, Town House will be ac­cept­ing do­na­tions of back­packs and school sup­plies to be dis­trib­uted at the end of Au­gust. Do­na­tions of back­packs and school sup­plies and/or mon­e­tary do­na­tions can be dropped off dur­ing reg­u­lar of­fice hours, Mon­day to Fri­day. 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any­one need­ing as­sis­tance can con­tact Town House at 902-849-2449 af­ter July 30.

A babysit­ting course is open to those 11 years and older. The course costs $40 and the course date will be de­ter­mined ac­cord­ing to regis­tra­tions.

A stan­dard two day first aid/CPR course in­clud­ing au­to­mated ex­ter­nal de­fib­ril­la­tion will also be held. Course fee will be$110 and course date will be de­ter­mined ac­cord­ing to how many register.
