Baddeck golfer fin­ishes third

KINGSTON, N.S. — Baddeck’s Trevor Chow has fin­ished in a third place tie at the Nova Sco­tia men’s am­a­teur cham­pi­onship. Chow, who now re­sides in the Hal­i­fax area and golfs out of the Ashburn Golf Club, shot his third con­sec­u­tive twoover-par 73 to fin­ish at 12over par in 2015 MCT In­sur­ance Men’s Am­a­teur pro­vin­cial cham­pi­onship. The tour­na­ment went to ex­tra holes af­ter 15-year-old Shaun Marge­son over­came a three-shot deficit with three holes to play to tie 2008 cham­pion David Wil­liamson at nine-over par for the four rounds at the Paragon Golf and Coun­try Club in Kingston. The teenager scram­bled on the first play­off hole, but holed a birdie chip for par to put the pres­sure on Wil­liamson, but the 30-yearold from Truro then got up and down from a green­side bunker to make birdie and claim his sec­ond men’s am­a­teur ti­tle. Thomas Xi­dos, of The Lakes, fin­ished in a tie for 29th place.
