The first leg of the 2015 Race the Cape — the MacLeod Lor­way In­sur­ance Group Red Is­lands Cup Yacht Race, from St. Peter’s to Ben Eoin — starts from off Cape Ge­orge Light­house near St. Peter’s this morn­ing at about 11 a.m. About 40 of­fi­cial en­trants, in­clud­ing the Pa­tience, skip­pered by Bruce Flinn and based out of the Ch­ester Yacht Club, shown above near Ben Eoin in this file photo from the 2014 Race the Cape last July, are ex­pected to cross the fin­ish line near the Ben Eoin Yacht Club in East Bay some eight or nine hours later, af­ter hav­ing cov­ered a dis­tance of about 32 nau­ti­cal miles. The sec­ond leg of Race the Cape, the Barra Strait Cup Yacht Race, from Ben Eoin to Baddeck, cov­er­ing a dis­tance of 20 nau­ti­cal miles, has a 10 a.m. start time on Tues­day morn­ing.
