Small fire tem­po­rar­ily closes NSCC cam­pus

HAL­I­FAX — A cam­pus of the Nova Sco­tia Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Dart­mouth was tem­po­rar­ily closed Mon­day af­ter a small fire in an area that is un­der con­struc­tion. The school an­nounced it had re­opened its Ak­er­ley Cam­pus about two hours af­ter the fire was re­ported at 11 a.m. It says the build­ing was evac­u­ated and the fire was quickly con­tained by Hal­i­fax Re­gional Fire and Emer­gency. The col­lege says the fire was caused when com­bustible ma­te­rial ig­nited in the con­struc­tion area, which will re­main closed. The Ak­er­ley Child Care Cen­tre, a day­care on the cam­pus, was tem­po­rar­ily re­lo­cated to Prince An­drew High School and par­ents were no­ti­fied that it will re­main closed for the day.
