Small fire temporarily closes NSCC campus
HALIFAX — A campus of the Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth was temporarily closed Monday after a small fire in an area that is under construction. The school announced it had reopened its Akerley Campus about two hours after the fire was reported at 11 a.m. It says the building was evacuated and the fire was quickly contained by Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency. The college says the fire was caused when combustible material ignited in the construction area, which will remain closed. The Akerley Child Care Centre, a daycare on the campus, was temporarily relocated to Prince Andrew High School and parents were notified that it will remain closed for the day.
