It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the pass­ing of Michael Har­ri­etha, 76, on Sun­day, July 12, 2015, at the North­side Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal.

Born in Syd­ney Mines on July 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Dan Joe and Mary (Dandy) Har­ri­etha.

Michael worked as a coal miner for 34 years. Michaels’s great­est joy in life was spend­ing time with his grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren and es­pe­cially his cat Shadow. Michael is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife Ann (Buf­fett) of 55 years; daugh­ters, Collen (Gary) Hoeg, Sherry Har­ri­etha (Gor­don) and son Michael; six grand­chil­dren; four great-grand­chil­dren; and sis­ter Pa­tri­cia LeBlanc.

Be­sides his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by sis­ters, Rose, Ce­celia, An­nie, Effie Bell, Josephine and Jac­quline, broth­ers, Doug, Vin­cent, An­drew and Alex.

The fam­ily wish to ex­tend a spe­cial thank you to the nurs­ing staff of 4 West North­side Gen­eral and Dr. El­iz­a­beth MacCormick for the care they pro­vided to Michael.

In keep­ing with Michael’s wishes cre­ma­tion has taken place. The fam­ily will be re­ceiv­ing friends at a re­cep­tion in Michael’s hon­our at the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion, Main Street, Syd­ney Mines, Wed­nes­day, July 15, 2-4 p.m.
