HARDY, Ju­lia Is­abel (Ma­cLean)


It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our lov­ing mother, grand­mother and great-grand­mother, Ju­lia Is­abel (Ma­cLean) Hardy, 95, Mira Road, Syd­ney, with her fam­ily by her side at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, on Sun­day, July 12, 2015.

Ju­lia was a long­time res­i­dent of Mira Road. She was a mem­ber of the Mira Road Home and School As­so­ci­a­tion, the Re­bekah Lodge and the United Bap­tist Church, now the United Her­itage Church, Syd­ney, and also the last sur­viv­ing spouse of a found­ing mem­ber of the Mira Road Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment.

Ju­lia was a daugh­ter of the late Murdock and Alexis (Mac­Don­ald) Ma­cLean and the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of her fam­ily.

She is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Geral­dine Ma­cLean, Mira Road; sons, Wayne (Pa­tri­cia), Syd­ney, Don­ald (Irene) and Kevin (Mary), Hill­side, Mira; grand­chil­dren, Dar­lene (Doug) LaRu­sic, Brent (Diane) Boyle, Scott (Va­lerie) Ma­cLean, Glenn (Ni­cole) Ma­cLean, Mark Ma­cLean, An­drew ( Jamie) Hardy, Erin (Brad) McPher­son, Jule Ann Hardy, Adam Hardy, Jen­nifer (Mike) Burns, Re­nee Hardy (Mar­lon), Ju­lia Hardy, Kevin Hardy ( Jana) and Jor­dan Hardy (Ash­ley); and 14 great- grand­chil­dren, Brit­tany, Jaimee, Jes­sica (Bren­dan), Josh, Devon, Corey, Christo­pher, Carter, Kati­lyn, Han­nah, Ai­den, Al­lie, Sun­shine Amelia and Sarah Grace, who all loved her dearly and will cher­ish many fond mem­o­ries.

Ju­lia was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Gerald in 1997; daugh­ter, Frances Boyle in 2012; sonin-law, James Boyle in 1994; sis­ters, Alice, Rachael and Effie; and broth­ers, Harry, Rod­er­ick, Neil and An­gus.

Vis­i­ta­tion will take place at Syd­ney Me­mo­rial Chapel to­day (Wed­nes­day) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Fu­neral ser­vice will be held at the United Her­itage Church, 500 Char­lotte St., Syd­ney, on Thurs­day, July 16 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rose­mary Godin of­fi­ci­at­ing.
