Daniel Sylvester Maxwell passed away peace­fully on July 12, 2015, at Dart­mouth Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal.

Born in North Syd­ney on Aug. 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Gor­don and Brid­gette (Au­doux) Maxwell.

Daniel was a long­time mem­ber of Im­mac­u­late Conception parish, Syd­ney Mines. He was a de­voted em­ployee of CN Marine, North Syd­ney, where he worked as a steve­dore for over 30 years.

Daniel is sur­vived by his five chil­dren, Brian, Ed­mon­ton; Colleen, Mil­lville; Pa­tri­cia, North Syd­ney; Doug, Kingston, Ont.; Linda, Mill­creek. Six grand­chil­dren and two great-grand­chil­dren; sis­ters, Jean Ivy, Peg (Martin) MacIsaac; broth­ers, Robert (Anne) and John. Along with many nieces and neph­ews.

Be­sides his par­ents, Daniel was pre­de­ceased by his daugh­ter, Dar­lene; brother, Gor­don; sis­ters, Wilma Crews and Janet Snow; brother-in-law, Jim Ivy.

In keep­ing with Daniel’s wishes cre­ma­tion has taken place. There will be no vis­i­ta­tion. A cel­e­bra­tion of his life will be held on Fri­day, July 17, 2015, at 10 a.m. in Holy Fam­ily Church, Syd­ney Mines, with Fr. J. Oliver of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial to fol­low in St. Joseph Ceme­tery.
