Nursing students help community kitchen
Second-year practical nursing students at Nova Scotia Community College’s Marconi Campus recently raised enough money to purchase a $5,500 steam table and donate $2,442.20 for Loaves and Fishes, a downtown Sydney community kitchen. The total amount of $7,942.20 was raised through ticket sales, bake sales, 50/50 draws, bagging groceries and other activities. Front row, from left, are Ashley MacPhee, Cindy Wong, Crystal Carriere, Rachel Chiasson, Janet MacDonald, Meghan Hollingsworth, Stacey Boone, Jennifer Peters, Annabelle Walsh and Tasha Walters. Middle and back rows, Angela MacDonald, Brittany Petite, Sherry Muir, Lisa Steele, Margaret MacNeil, Vicky Carter, Denise Campbell, Alana Murphy and Darlene Ruelland. Other students helped with the fundraising but were unable to attend the cheque presentation.
