Youth sen­tenced on charges stem­ming from fa­tal car crash

An In­ver­ness County teen was sen­tenced Thurs­day on charges stem­ming from a fa­tal ac­ci­dent in 2013 that killed three young men.

The youth, now 18, was sen­tenced hav­ing pleaded guilty to three counts of dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing death and three counts of dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing bod­ily harm.

The ac­ci­dent oc­curred July 22, 2013, in Har­bourview, near Port Hood. At the time of the ac­ci­dent, the driver was 17 and was charged un­der the Youth Crim­i­nal Jus­tice Act, which pro­hibits the pub­li­ca­tion of his iden­tity.

The youth was sen­tenced to four months in cus­tody fol­lowed by a two months of house ar­rest.

He is also banned form pos­sess­ing firearms for two years along with a five-year driv­ing ban. The youth is also to com­plete a 15- month pro­ba­tion pe­riod.

RCMP re­sponded to the crash at ap­prox­i­mately 11: 30 p. m. on Shore Road. At the time, RCMP said a Toy­ota Echo with seven oc­cu­pants left the road and went into the ditch.

The ac­ci­dent killed broth­ers, Lo­gan Pa­trick MacIn­tyre, 17 and Mor­gan Christo­pher MacIn­tyre, 19, of Judique. Joel Ce­cil Chan­dler, 20, of Port Hood also died.
