Youth sentenced on charges stemming from fatal car crash
An Inverness County teen was sentenced Thursday on charges stemming from a fatal accident in 2013 that killed three young men.
The youth, now 18, was sentenced having pleaded guilty to three counts of dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The accident occurred July 22, 2013, in Harbourview, near Port Hood. At the time of the accident, the driver was 17 and was charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which prohibits the publication of his identity.
The youth was sentenced to four months in custody followed by a two months of house arrest.
He is also banned form possessing firearms for two years along with a five-year driving ban. The youth is also to complete a 15- month probation period.
RCMP responded to the crash at approximately 11: 30 p. m. on Shore Road. At the time, RCMP said a Toyota Echo with seven occupants left the road and went into the ditch.
The accident killed brothers, Logan Patrick MacIntyre, 17 and Morgan Christopher MacIntyre, 19, of Judique. Joel Cecil Chandler, 20, of Port Hood also died.
