Gov­ern­ment in­ves­ti­gates diver’s death at tidal sta­tion

AN­NAPO­LIS ROYAL, N.S. - The pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment is in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a diver died while con­duct­ing an in­spec­tion at a Nova Sco­tia Power tidal sta­tion on Wed­nes­day. The Labour Depart­ment says the diver was an em­ployee of Paul’s Div­ing Ser­vices Inc. Of­fi­cers with the depart­ment’s oc­cu­pa­tional health and safety di­vi­sion have in­ter­viewed em­ploy­ees of the div­ing com­pany and Nova Sco­tia Power em­ploy­ees who were at the tidal power sta­tion at the time. The gov­ern­ment says no or­ders have been is­sued. An­napo­lis Royal Po­lice said the diver was in­spect­ing a set of gates at the tidal sta­tion when he lost con­tact with the sur­face team around 1 p.m. Po­lice chief Burt McNeil says the diver be­came en­tan­gled, but it was not clear on what.
